The India Week Hamburg is being held for the fourth time this year. The city of Hamburg is set to present a broad program with hosts from Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein, between 16th and 23rd October. The program is marked by the title "European Green Capital 2011": Many events are addressed to global challenges and issues of cooperation regarding environmental protection, renewable energy sources and sustainability. Included are lectures, market analyses, discussions with companies, economic and environmental experts, just as well as art projects, concerts, film series, readings and exhibitions.

We too, as Research Project Global Innovation of the Institute of Technology and Innovation Management at Hamburg University of Technology (TIM/TUHH) have decided to yet again contribute our expertise and resources to make this event successful and, at the same time, to showcase our practice-oriented research to firms, researchers, relevant institutions and all other interested persons. This way, we hope to share our knowledge for a greater benefit of the society while also hoping to get new impulses from our intense interaction with the practitioners.

Our contribution is both direct and indirect. We have conceputalized a symposium on the theme of "Grassroot Innovations: New Opportunities for Indo-German Cooperation?" and will host it together with the German-Indian Round Table (GIRT) and other partners. Our indirect - and even greater - contribution is delivered via our engagement in GIRT. GIRT Hamburg which is headed by Rajnish Tiwari in an honorary capacity is one of the primary organizers of the India Week Hamburg since its very inception in 2007. Rajnish Tiwari and Dr. Stephan Buse from TIM/TUHH, with active support and encouragement from Prof. Dr. Cornelius Herstatt have been co-initiators of the India Week Hamburg. Apart from being a key driving force GIRT Hamburg is also co-host of several other events at the India Week Hamburg.
